General WAFA FAQ – Wool and Fiber Arts

General WAFA FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS WOOL AND FIBER ARTS?
Wool and Fiber Arts was founded in April 2020 when one person saw the need among the fiber community for a fiber festival that could be held entirely online. In the middle of the Covid-19 lockdowns, with all of the large festivals being cancelled, farmers and small businesses had lost major sources of income. In just two weeks, she and an incredible team of volunteers pulled off what seemed almost impossible. As awareness grew, a one day event turned into two and half days full of fiber farmers, indie dyers, mills, and other small fiber arts businesses. The group hit over 2,500 members by Saturday morning of the sale and was an unbelievable success. Our goal with Wool and Fiber Arts is to provide everything you would find at an in person fiber festival - entirely online. The team is now dedicated to organizing festivals, educational videos, and more for the fiber arts community. We use Facebook LIVE to host all of our festivals in our FB group.

CAN ANYONE POST ITEMS FOR SALE?
No. Only vendors who have gone through the application process and received a scheduled time slot in a live sale event may post items for sale.

HOW DO I BECOME A VENDOR?

All of the information you need to become a vendor can be found HERE.

WHO SELLS HERE?
All of the vendors for the current event can be found under the VENDORS tab here on the website.

HOW DOES A VIRTUAL SALE WORK?
On sale days, each vendor will post one live video at a designated time. A new video will be scheduled to start every 30 minutes, but the videos will be available to watch at any time after they air. A schedule of the vendors and their sale start times will be pinned under the ANNOUNCEMENTS tab. Each vendor will explain their preferred method of completing sales at the start of their video and then present the items they have for sale. Some vendors will direct buyers to their website or Etsy store to make purchases, but in most cases, if you see something you want to buy, comment SOLD and the item #. Privately message the seller with your zip code and email address for shipping calculations and invoicing. You’ll receive an invoice via email from the vendor, and after you’ve paid, your fibery goodness will be on its way!

HOW DO I FIND LIVE VIDEOS?
Live sale videos are posted on the main wall of this page. If you’re looking for a particular vendor, you may need to scroll down a bit to find their video. Utilize the search option if needed. You can also click on the VIDEOS or PHOTOS or MEDIA tab (depending on your device and FB configuration) to see all the videos that have been posted in order. You can also choose all posts under the notification settings for the group.

A NEW VIDEO IS SCHEDULED TO START, BUT I CAN’T FIND IT. WHERE IS IT?

Click on the VIDEOS or PHOTOS or MEDIA tab (depending on your device and FB configuration) to see all the videos that have been posted in order. If you’ve refreshed the screen a few times and still don’t see a new live video, it’s possible that the vendor is having some technical difficulties. We will try to notify everyone ASAP of delays or schedule changes. Please be patient and resist the urge to post about a missing video on the main page. Remember, brief intermissions are the perfect time to take a snack or bathroom break.

WILL THERE BE LIVE ANIMALS OR SHEEPSKIN ITEMS FOR SALE?
No. Sales of live animals, hides, horns, pelts, or skins are strictly prohibited due to Facebook restrictions. Please contact an Admin right away if you see these kinds of items being offered for sale.

CAN I STILL SHOP IF A VENDOR’S LIVE VIDEO HAS ENDED?

Yes! You can buy even after a sale video is no longer live. Some vendors are adding comments to their videos to let buyers know what is still available. Other vendors will post photos of the items they still have available once the live sale is over. Each vendor should have an ALBUM that they will update after their sale with items that are still available, to make shopping after the live easier.

I WANTED TO BUY AN ITEM, BUT THE VENDOR SAID SOMEONE ELSE HAD ALREADY CLAIMED IT. WHAT’S GOING ON?
All sales are on a first come, first served basis. If someone else commented SOLD on the item # first in a live video, they get to purchase that item. Many vendors offer multiples of the same product for sale, but if you see a one of-a-kind item that you must have, jump on it before someone else does!

I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SOMETHING I PURCHASED. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Communicate any issues with your vendor ASAP. Some vendors allow returns and others are final sales only, which is information they should share at the beginning of their live video. If the vendor is not being responsive, please contact the Admin team.

MY PACKAGE HASN’T ARRIVED. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Remember that some areas have delayed delivery at this time. Communicate with your vendor to find out when they plan to ship your item or if it has already been shipped. If the vendor is not being responsive, please contact the Admin team.

CAN I POST PICS OF MY ITEMS WHEN THEY ARRIVE?
Yes! We love seeing your squishy mail, and our vendors love to see happy customers!
